POSTBAG EXPATRIATES Editor, I am deeply concerned with the number of so-called expatriates that are entering our country. I could cite an example of a named mining company here in Kitwe but it’s mostly all companies now that are bringing in a lot of them. So many people are coming in the name of being expatriates. We know that most of these people have difficulties getting jobs in their own countries, so South Africa, Zambia and DR Congo are their havens. Can the govenment please act on this? They are denying Zambians job opportunities. Most of them do little but get hefty salaries. A CEO at a named mining firm here in Kitwe has made sure it’s his wife controlling the accounts department. Surely, don’t we have qualified accountants in this country? Concerned
