PR First step to set goals. What we need to do is align marketing and PR objectives with those of the organization. For most corporations, the most important goal is profitable revenue growth. In newer companies, those built around emerging markets and technologies, this usually means generating new customers, but in mature businesses, the management team may need to be more focus on keeping the customers that they already have. Of course, nonprofits have the goal of raising money; politicians, to get out the votes; rock bands, to get people to buy CDs and iTunes downloads; and universities, to get students applications. So, your first step is to get with the leaders of your organization and determine your business goals. If you run a nonprofit, school, advocacy group, or political campaign, consider your goals for donations, applications, new members, or votes. Write them down in detail.
