Tasneem, formerly Fellow, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, and recipient of Sahitya Academy Award {Literary Academy Award, 1999]: My dear Anand, Your phone call is always welcome as you convey something new and good about your literary activities... This is indeed the period of the flowering of your genius. Earlier, much earlier, you were like a violent half-hidden behind a mossy stone [with apologies to William Wordsworth]. Sometimes I wonder as how, in every new collection of your poetry in English, you scale new heights, so effortlessly. Your approach to the changing pattern of life is like a seafarer who is always looking beyond the horizon. At times, you gaze at the stars that light up your spirits to discover new spaces for your imagination to soar high. You are at heart a philosopher who is always lost in gaining new insight into the heart of the matter. At times, the words are like pebbles in our hands which you have gathered in the realm of gold.. There is no doubt that you sometimes use such a set of words as apparently elude meanings in the fist reading. but your poems convrse with the readers in a meaningful manner, when their minds are receptive and are inclined to appreciate the unsaid more than the said.
