PUSHING PAST LIMITS.... Ive always pushed myself and students - TopicsExpress

PUSHING PAST LIMITS.... Ive always pushed myself and students to get the highest possible scores and I am intentional about it. However, this can have a negative effect at times when you push too much. The SAT results came out this morning and of the 7 kids I prepped, I went through the ritual, calling or being called to hear the scores. While most are dancing scores are between a 1840-2010 I started my regular why so low convo and some of the kids are already making plans for re-takes. The bucket dropped out when one kid got 2030 and my first response was, ONLY. I was surprised when my student flipped out on me thinking I am pushing too much and demanding too much. So I chin up and apologized for being too hard but demanded he start the next class for October sitting. I must admit, I feel bad after I hang up the phone. Maybe, pushing is bad but I think that is how we raise the bar and get better... Am I the only one with this mindset?.... #kindnaconfused.
