Parish Supervisor Category Management Industry Consulting Location Kampala (Central), Uganda Job description The Electoral Commission, which was established under Article 60 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and mandated to conduct public elections and referenda, invites applications from suitably qualified persons with proven integrity and initiative, results oriented, able to work in teams under minimum supervision, and excellent client care to fill vacant positions within its establishment. Application procedure: Application forms can be picked from the offices of the respective District Registrars/Returning Officers. They can also be downloaded from the Electoral Commission website at ec.or.ug. Duly filled application forms should be returned to the office of the District Registrar/Returning Officer not later than Saturday, 7th December, 2013. The date for conducting interviews will be communicated to you through the office of the District Registrar/Returning Officer and through announcements on local radios. A short-list of candidates to appear for interviews will be pinned at the office of the District Registrar/ Returning Officer in your district. Successful candidates will be informed through the same office and will be issued appointment letters. Copies of academic certifi cates, a comprehensive CV with 2 referees and day time telephone contact, and two passport size photos should be attached to the application form. Position: Parish Supervisor No. of positions: One per Parish. Reports to: Sub-County Supervisor Duty Station: Within the Parish Terms: Contract Remuneration: Attractive and competitive Key Responsibilities: 1. Administering all Electoral activities in the Parish. 2. Conducting voter education in the Parish. 3. Issuing out voter identifi cation cards. 4. Updating the voters’ register. 5. Mobilizing people to turn up for registration and to check their particulars during the display exercise. 6. Responsible for the supervision of nominations, campaigns and polling day activities. 7. Making election activity reports to the Sub- County Supervisor. Other responsibilities: 1. Maintaining Electoral Commission equipment. 2. Recruiting and training registration, display and polling day officials. 3. Assisting in mobilizing voters during electoral activities. 4. Ensuring that materials reach polling stations in time and equipping polling stations. 5. Conducting publicity of electoral activities. 6. Providing information and statistics on voter registration, voting and elections. 7. Supervising electoral activities. Gender Indiferente Candidate description Person specification: 1. High moral character and proven integrity. 2. Should be resident in the Parish for at-least five (5) years. 3. Should have demonstrable experience in handling Public Affairs. 4. Should be a registered voter. 5. Should have a crime-free record (attach Police report). 6. Possession of Uganda Certifi cate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent will be an added advantage. Preferred skills and experience for both positions: 1. Ability to command respect. 2. Considerable knowledge and exposure to the challenges involved in electoral activities. 3. Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-work skills. 4. Capacity to work with senior personalities in different occupations. 5. Analytical and problem solving skills. 6. Past or current experience in teaching or community mobilization. 7. Ability to train. 8. Ability to work under tight deadlines
