Parson to Person “And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’” Matthew 11:2–3 (NKJV) The failure or inability to see the “big picture” that God is directing in this world is the cause of great disappointment to many. However, in the economy of the eternal, God reserves the right to withhold information or explain all the progresses and processes of His plan – as He sees fit. The “small picture” revelation can and does cause believers to suffer disappointment. However, our disappointment comes from a failure to truly trust the Lord and grasp with genuine faith the fact that He is directing our steps – every one of them. In the Psalms we read, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way.”Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) When Joseph was sold into Egypt as a slave he was disappointed in his brothers. But when God revealed the end game plan all the pieces came together – and the Lord was glorified. When Moses was rejected by the Children of Israel after protecting “one of his brethren” from an Egyptian, he was disappointed and fled into Midian. He was there for 40 years before the Lord spoke to him. There God gave him marching orders to return and command the Pharaoh to let His people go free. The end game and its result proved God was in the mix and was directing every step of Moses life. When the disciples saw Jesus crucified they were disappointed and in hiding – until Jesus rose from the dead – changing everything. Illustrations are abundant throughout the Scripture. When we come to understand that the Lord directs the steps of His own we can truly rest in His providential care of our lives – and the corresponding end result. God is and will be glorified in His own. Knowing this will allow the believer to rest even in the darkest trial. Rest my beloved, rest! I love you all, Pastor Paul
