Passover is also associated with the importance of childbirth, the birth of the nation, and the birth of spirit. Childbirth is very important and Moshe did not reach his soul’s maturity until he had a child. Passover also reflects the resistance of the Jewish midwives and of the Egyptian princess in saving Moshe and as many boy babies as possible. Why is there blood on the doorpost? Because of the impurity of the people they had to offer a blood sacrifice. The blood was placed on the doorpost as a sign of their desire for redemption and their faith that it was possible.
