Manoj Kumar files criminal case on SRK for Om scene Veteran actor Manoj Kumar on Tuesday filed a criminal case against Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan for defaming him in the 2007 film Om Shanti Om. Moving a magistrate’s court in Andheri, he asked it to direct the police to file an FIR against the two for offences like criminal breach of trust, cheating, defamation and conspiracy. Om Shanti Om, starring SRK and Deepika Padukone and directed by Farah Khan, was released November 2007. It had one scene showing SRK mimicking Manoj Kumar, a star of yesteryears, in which he was denied entry to an auditorium during a show. Kumar objected, demanding the scene be edited out. He later filed a defamation suit in 2008, but withdrew it after SRK apologised, and told him it would be deleted. The city civil court directed SRK and Farah to remove the scene before releasing it on television. Om Shanti Om was released in Japan March 16, 2013. Kumar says he got several phone calls saying it still contained the scene. The court, directing that a copy of the scene be produced before it, adjourned the matter for a week.
