Pet peeve.... people who call ( or do pm on chat) as if they care, ask ... How are you?... when in fact, if we cut to the chase, they want something. Do you REALLY want to know how I am?? Be careful; I might just start telling you, and then wont you be sorry you asked and wasted time pretending it was about me (us) when it was always about you and what you needed. I want to help you, but lets get to the point, if you are calling for a reason other than friendship, so we can both move on. Either that or dont get made when I ask directly how we can help, or ask if we can move on to the real reason of the call. You would not call the VA, the VFW, the 211 operator, or for that matter Pizza Hut and ask the person who answered the phone, How are you, try to engage in small talk; why do you do it with me? If you are calling for our intervention and help, say so, and we will do what we can. And dont call me after 8pm unless there is an emergency need that can be handled in an after hours way. We have a life too, and need our down time, but want to be responsive when it is a real emergency... but we get calls even at 1 in the morning some days! (PS.... if you are a friend or family member, please disregard the above message, and call me anytime you want.)End of discussion/rant on too many calls that need to get to the point so I can do the work you really called about... Oh... wait... One more... I am not 411; if you need a #, look it up. ( Got a call yesterday wanting me to find #s for pawn shops or loan him $$ on his watch....)
