Petroleum Minister Launches Start of Seismic Survey in Block Eleven Khartoum – Minister of Petroleum, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, has launched the start of seismic survey in block eleven in which seismic technology are used. This technology is being used for the first time in Sudan, he said. The minister made the remarks during his inspection visit to block 11 the concession of which was granted recently where Sudan Energy is operating – a consortium of Brazilian, Egyptian Nile Valley and Sudapet. The minister emphasized the importance of coordination and the need to speed up implementation of the programme. He described Sudan Energy as a model of companies that use hi-tech to realize positive results. The responsibility on the oil sector and employees has grown due to the economic challenges experienced by the country, he said. Oil discovery and production is the only way to develop economy, he added. Preparations have been finalized for the kick-off of the programme of seismic survey, said Dr. Mohamed Zaid, deputy manager of Sudan Energy. The company is implementing social service projects in the area including water harvest projects where SDG1.7 million worth of reservoirs have been drilled to assist vulnerable families and orphans in the area.
