Philosophical status of the night: Subject: Metaphysics - The universe does not require a great cause, or what most people call a creator. This is because causality cannot presuppose existence. If nothing exists, how can there be any cause and effect? So then how did the universe come to be? The answer is: because of the small stuff. You can think of the small stuff as that which is inherent in everything that exists. It is the ONE in the MANY, at the most fundamental level. It is the thing that preceded the existence of all things. The thing whose multiplicity provided and continues to provide for the existence of all things. - Imagine that this thing is a cube. Now reduce your field of vision sufficiently for it to virtually disappear from your perceptual apparatus. If you had more of these cubes, could you not string them together to form all kinds of different shapes, which to your zoomed out field of perception may very well appear to be perfect, indestructible, indistinguishable, unique things in themselves? It is possible. - Now you might ask... well how does one gain knowledge about the small stuff? The answer is: by means of integration. By means of asking: what is the ONE in the MANY. Since existence exists, and since we are part of existence, we do not require to jump out of existence in order to gain knowledge about existence. Contrary to Einsteins theory of relativity, which says that objective truth is only possible to an outside stationary observer who observes situations which occur within a delimited container of space and time, it is possible to know the truth about reality objectively. And we do so by abstracting the ONE in the MANY, by integrating our knowledge within the context of similarities and according to the laws of identity and causality. We thus induce new absolute knowledge (the ONE) from observations about reality (the MANY). Within this process, if we remain consistent, it is possible to reach out toward the discovery of the small stuff without ever wasting time asking what omnipotent undiscoverable power created it.
