Pink Floyd album becomes most pre-ordered on Amazon Pink Floyds latest album has become the most pre-ordered of all time on Amazon U.K., knocking younger rivals One Direction off of the number one spot. The Endless River released on Monday, is the veteran rock bands first album in 20 years following the release of The Division Bell in 1994. The record has put Pink Floyd ahead of One Directions Midnight Memories and Swings Both Ways by Robbie Williams. Albums by Take That, David Bowie and Coldplay all feature in the top 10 most pre-ordered albums of all time. Pink Floyd launched their first album in 1967, but the band shot to fame in 1973 with The Dark Side of the Moon. In this time, founding members Rick Wright and Syd Barrett have died. The Endless River features singer and guitarist Dave Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason, but not Roger Waters, who quit the group over 30 years ago. The 18 track instrumental album is based upon material from The Division Bell as well as unreleased keyboard performances from the late Wright. I think we have successfully commandeered the best of what there is. I suspect this is it, David Gilmour told BBC 6 Music last month. Amazon customers who ordered the album as CD or vinyl will receive a digital copy to listen to while the product is shipped to them.
