Please allow me to blow your mind. If stars were the size of grains of salt, you could fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool with the stars in the Milky Way galaxy. Recall that the Milky Way is just ONE of AT LEAST 100 billion galaxies in the OBSERVABLE universe. Therefore, to contain all the stars we can see, we would need 100 billion Olympic-sized swimming pools. Moreover, we now know that where there are stars, there are planets. And if JUST ONE of each of those 100 billion swimming pools has an Earth-like planet orbiting one of those stars, the universe is, in all likelihood, teeming with life!
