Please everyone, do you have any words of wisdom for basting quilts on point (ie the straight of grain goes NW-SE/NE-SW on the top and N-S/E-W on the backing). I am making quilts for twins and the first one caused me so much grief despite spray-basting, tacking and loads of pins, it still managed to stretch every which-way whilst quilting it. With the second one I feel inclined to tack (sorry, baste, Im English!) up/down, side to side AND diagonals... does anyone have any better or quicker advice? Pattern is from Quilt Magazine #115 (2010) by the way.
