Please pray for the staff of 91.9 and 89.7. They are seeking where God will have them to serve next.Pray for their families as well. It is crazy to think that New Life 91.9 will not be on the air in a couple of months. It is sad to see so much syndication taking away the local flavor of each town these stations are in. I believe that local Christian radio may come back one day but who knows. However, it is good that Christian music will remain on the stations. On a personal note... God used this station to impact my life in some major ways. To the many friends I had the opportunity to make from 1997 - 2007, I want to thank each and every one of you. Many who I had the opportunity to serve with made a huge impact in my life. We must have a reunion soon. To the listeners that supported Charlottes first Christian Music Station, thank you. It was incredible to see a community come together like it did. To my station family. Excuse me for the longevity. The list is in alphabetical order just so you can see how many end of the alphabet people were at 91.9. Just writing as memories come I am praying for those still at the station. I know you will seek what the Lord has next for you. As I think back, every single person I got to serve along with, is like family. I never had a huge family growing up and you really love like family does! I wish everyone who listened had the opportunity to know that! I need to write a book but here is a small sample of memories about you guys. Joyce Helms Younts : You would have been last in alphabetical order but the last should be first. It is fitting that your last name is at the end of the alphabet because you always put others first. Your advice and love for me means more than you will ever know. Your love for people cannot be compared by any human on these earth. You love the most like Jesus than anyone I have ever met. You always kept me laughing and smiling. No matter what the day held, I knew that I could talk to Joyce and get truth and love no matter what. I do not know how many times all of hearts would stop when you sneezed. #LoudestSneezeEver #WasThatTheSoundForTheRapture ??? Dwayne (facebookless) Harrison - Thank you for investing in me as well. I appreciate the opportunities! It was always fun watching the Super Bowl in your state of the art man cave (before man caves were cool). You took the task of deciding what songs and programs would be on air. You really cared about the process. You also had the first iPod ever! I know you love your wife and kids and that is the coolest thing. Thanks for being there for me man. To Ken Mayfield : Thank you for investing in me as a 15 year old kid who absolutely knew nothing about anything. You believed in me as my youth pastor and later as my boss at the station. I will never forget sitting outside Carowinds after sweating 10 buckets of perspiration and you asking me to work at the station. So many memories with you at the station and Oak Grove, that I cannot begin to list all of them. I will never forget that huge spider in the studio when we were doing Freestyle. Ken had to vacuum the thing, that was as big as my hand, off of the wall as Clayton King ran like a girl. Reg Alexander and Clayton, we had some fun times on those Saturday nights at the station. Ken, you really care for people and it shows. Especially since you saved us from the giant spider. In all seriousness, I love you and Deb to death. PS: thanks for letting me clean the gutters on a dangerous heat index day as a 19 year old. Also, thanks for letting me clear out the poison ivy in the woods. Haha. Seriously, thanks for making me work. So many license plates, so little time. Gary (facebookless) Moreland - Your testimony is crazy. From big time country radio to where God brought you many years ago. It took me a while to figure you out but in the end I know you want people to come to know Jesus. I know I knew everything sometimes as a young kid but thanks for being there man. You have a lot of passion for Jesus and for your wife. You always treat her like royalty and that made an impact on my life. Joe Paulo : You and your family love me for me. You stuck with me even when I was on the side of the road in the station van with three wheels still attached. (The other was rolling down 77 as God literally guided that van to a stop). I am pretty sure the tater gun story that I heard you and Ken tell so many times was one of the funniest things that happened in Indian Trail, ever. You and Ken were my only GMs ever and I know both of you loved Jesus. Many people came to know Christ through this ministry and I thank you for being part of that. Thanks for investing me and taking a step of faith. I had a blast serving with you. Elizabeth Poplin : My boss and my sister (extended family). I will never forget your first day when you had an office but no desk. You and your family mean so much to Kasie and I. Thank you for not firing me hahah. I will never forget the one time that I forgot the 91.9 table cloths for a concert. It was an honor to work with you and I am grateful for the opportunity to know Jared, Jack and Luke along with your mom, dad and Amy Atcheson Snyder . I still cannot believe I got to be in her wedding. #RollTide. I never had a sister and God put you in my life to give me that advice! You were a great boss because you always pushed me and never did anything half-hearted. Steve McCranie - My station pastor and mentor. I feel like God brought you to that station just for me. I know many feel that way because you always listened to the problem of the day. You also always delivered the Biblical answer in spite of what we thought. God used and uses you to be that constant in my life as one that will give me the answer that I need to hear rather than want to hear. I will never forget when I was leaving to come to Rock Hill and I asked you if everything was going to work out for Christ. You told me that there is a God and I am not Him. Some pretty awesome advice. Thanks for everything. Shelly Mitchell - The kitchen people unite. Come to think of it, everyone at the station loved me like family. Your family is great and I am blessed to be part of it. It was great sharing the best office ever with you. We had a fridge, microwave, copier, TV and everything else a break room could have! We had some great sister-brother talks also and I love you for your honesty as well. God used you in mighty ways and continues to do so. I know you and Ken saw so many moves of God as some of the originals. My favorite story is the one where Ken broke into programming to pray for someone who desperately needed prayer. Everytime you told it, you had tears in your eyes. Leslie Nease - Speaking of sharing offices, we did too. It is amazing to see someone who never gives up on their dreams, ever. Thank you for always giving me that advice that only family would give. If you saw that something was wrong, you would not let me get by with it. For someone who did not have any siblings in my life, God sure blessed me with so many. Your love for people is pretty clear to see! Jon Ramer - My Canada friend. You taught me some important stuff. For one, I know that they are called Canada geese and not Canadian geese. It was great fishing with you during those lunches. You really took time to help me do my best for the Lord in radio. I am pretty sure that your coached me for a couple hours straight one day. If people could only see you on that broadcast desk the first and only time I filled in for a morning. You always made me laugh, especially that morning when I was trying to read the news. Never saw you jumping on the booth but it happened haha. Lisa (facebookless) - From the Hornets to 91.9. I learned some very valuable lessons from you. You were a great boss that never slacked up. You took every task on full steam ahead. I know God is using you in great ways and thank you for everything! Deloris Rogers - You had to keep all of us in check! When Joyce would get to laughing, we had to be drawn back in! You really kept everything organized and everything moving. Lets face it, you cleaned Kens office one time..one time. I am like Ken, I know where everything is in my stack of papers. Thanks for loving me as family! Those harvest festivals were a blast! Jeremy Tracey Jill Tracey - The only couple to meet each other at the station and marry! It is pretty cool to see how you guys get to serve the Lord together to this day in radio. I know I was a young punk kid while yall were there but thanks for everything. It was an honor being dunked in the dunk tank with you guys at the birthday bash! Josh Uecker - You are last because you have the hardest last name to spell. The only person that I will ever know who can name the Super Bowl winner, MVP, starting QBs and score at any given moment. Josh you are always content and I learned a lot from you. You know when to speak and not speak and that is huge. I am still trying to learn that. Your family is amazing and I know God will take care of you guys. I always know that you know that and are content. The building could be on fire and you still would be cool, calm and collective. @Al C., Greg Baucom , Tim D, I do not get to work with you like the others but you guys are awesome! Thanks for always being there for others! Hard to believe that New Life 91.9 will be no more. Love you guys!
