Please read all the way to the end for a new contest...sorry about not posting recipes and about the new contest last night. My hubs lost his cell phone and I spent the evening trying to help him track it with our phone ap. Here are a few foods that are yummy and fun to cook with your kiddos. ~Cheesy Broccoli Bake 3 cups frozen chopped broccoli 3/4C chicken broth 1C whole milk or heavy whipping cream 1C cheese 3/4C uncooked instant rice 3 Tbsp. seasoned bread crumbs 2 Tbsp. melted butter In a bowl, combine the broccoli, broth, milk/cream, cheese, and rice. 8x8 square pan. Spread bread crumbs on top and drizzle butter on it. Cover and bake at 350° for 30 minutes; uncover and bake 15 minutes longer. ~Cherry Popcorn Clusters 6 heaping cups popped corn 1/4C agave nectar or honey 1/4 cup creamy natural peanut butter or almond butter 2 tablespoons finely chopped dark chocolate-covered pretzels 2 tablespoons finely chopped dried cherries or chopped maraschino cherries that you have dried with a paper towel Put popcorn in a large bowl. Combine agave (or honey) and peanut butter (or almond butter) in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring gently but constantly. As soon as the mixture starts to bubble immediately pour the mixture evenly over the popcorn. Gently mix with a spatula until well coated. Gently stir in dark chocolate-covered pretzels and finely chopped dried (maraschino) cherries. Spray both hands with cooking spray. Working quickly, press small handfuls of the popcorn mixture firmly into 2-inch balls. Make sure each ball gets a little bit of the pretzels and dried cherries. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet. If they seem too fragile, rinse hands with cold water and press and squeeze each ball again to help keep it together. Let cool completely before storing. ~Orange Fizz 3/4C lemon juice 2 litters of lemon-lime soda 3/4 gallon orange juice Mix all ingredients in a bowl or pitcher. Stir and add ice or sherbet for even more fun. Garnish ideas with slices of orange or lemon and cherries. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *****Between now and August 31st you can enter the Just Desserts contest.
