Please speak up !!! These chemicals are linked to so many maladies !!! Tell the EPA to deny Dow Chemical Co.’s application to use Enlist Duo, a combination of glyphosate and 2,4-D, on genetically engineered crops. The EPA is still seeking comments from the public before it makes its final decision, but that window closes on June 30. We’re so close to our goal of 50,000 signatures – we just need 18,000 more. Will you forward this email to your friends and family to help us get there? Thank you! Mary Ellen Kustin Senior Policy Analyst, Environmental Working Group -----Original Message----- From: EWG Action Alert To: Mary Ellen Kustin Subject: weed killers and GE crops URGENT ACTION ALERT: The Environmental Protection Agency is currently considering Dow Chemical Co.s application to market a new weed killer called Enlist Duo, a mixture of the toxic weed killers 2,4-D and glyphosate, the chemical in Monsanto’s Roundup. Dow wants to sell Enlist to be used alongside new types of genetically engineered corn and soybeans that were designed to withstand 2,4-D. Why these new breeds? Because weeds have grown resistant to glyphosate alone! Why you should care: 2,4-D has been linked to multiple risks to human health and the environment – including disruption of hormones and reproductive functions, elevated risk of cancer and Parkinson’s disease. What you can do about it: The EPA is now seeking comments from the public on this decision. That window is about to close. We need you to take action today! Click here to stand with EWG and tell the EPA to deny Dow Chemical Co.’s application to use a combination of 2,4-D and glyphosate on genetically engineered crops. What’s at risk: If the EPA were to approve Dow’s application, nationwide use of 2,4-D would increase from current levels by at least threefold by 2020. In addition to putting human health at risk, increased 2,4-D spraying would harm already-vulnerable ecosystems in intensely farmed regions, affect endangered species and potentially contribute to the decline of honeybees and other pollinators. Before the EPA makes its final decision on whether to approve Dow’s Enlist Duo, the agency’s leadership needs to hear from YOU right now. Take action now: Tell the EPA not to approve Dow’s application for Enlist Duo containing 2,4-D and glyphosate for use on genetically engineered crops! Thank you for standing with EWG in protection of human health and the environment. - EWG Action Alert P.S.
