All weekend PORTOBELLO: The Portobello Film Festival brings free alternative, independent film, world cinema and urban arts to the Westway from Wednesday to Sunday. SCALARAMA: The month-long UK-wide celebration of cinema begins, with opening night events on Saturday at the Brixton Ritzy and Dalston Rio, at film at the Asylum Peckham on Sunday. Check the website for the month-long programme. FEAST: Join the Southbanquet, a feast for 500 on Saturday and Sunday, as part of the Festival of Neighbourhood. Partake of a pot-luck platter and get involved with foodie workshops and activities throughout the weekend. Tickets £15+bkg, prebook, ollect your wristband by 7pm, dinner starts promptly at 7.30pm OPERA: The Crystal, over in the Royal Docks, celebrates a year since its opening with three days of opera on a giant screen. Friday sees Falstaff, Saturday brings La Traviata and Don Carlo, while Sunday shows The Magic Flute for Kids. Free but £5 charity donation suggested, prebook or just turn up ANOTHER FEAST: Feast in the Fields at The Brewhouse in London Fields has food stalls from Arancini Brothers, Tacochu, Mama’s Jerk Station and more, plus DJs and dancing. £9 and under, kids go free, noon-midnight.
