Police appeal for good Samaritan to come forward following near-drowning - Dolls Point Police are appealing for a man who rescued two young children from Botany Bay yesterday – providing CPR to one of the children who was pulled from the water unconscious – to come forward. Just before 5.30pm (Thursday 8 January 2015), two children were swimming in water near a sailing club at Dolls Point, supervised by family on shore. The girls were swimming out near a sandbar, when they began to struggle. Police have been told a passerby rushed into the water and rescued a young child from the water, before returning to the water and saving a seven-year-old girl, who was unconscious. He then provided CPR until the arrival of Ambulance Paramedics, who transported her to Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick in a serious but stable condition. She has since been stabilised and will make a full recovery. The good Samaritan left prior to police arrival, and officers would like to ascertain his identity in order to recognise his efforts. Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to contact St George Police Station on (02) 8566 7499.
