Police appeal for information after incident at dairy Whanganui Police are appealing for information from the public after a man was thwarted while he attempted to rob the Alma Dairy on Alma Road, Whanganui yesterday evening (17 November, 2014). At approximately 9:10pm the dairy owner was closing for the night when a single male with the lower half of his face covered tried to enter the business. The dairy owner managed to just close and lock the door when the offender tried to get in. He presented what was believed to be a pistol at the owner and demanded to be let in. The owner moved away from the door and did not let him in and at this stage he decamped from the scene and the owner immediately called Police. The male offender is described as being of medium build, between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8 in height. He was wearing a black jacket or hoodie. We are continuing to make inquiries as well as review CCTV footage in an effort to identify the offender. We want to speak to anyone that may have seen any suspicious activity in the Alma Road area between 8:30pm and 9:30pm that evening, says Senior Sergeant Paul Baskett, Whanganui Police Response Manager. Police are supporting the owner who was left shaken from the incident and have also offered Victim Support services. A white four-door saloon vehicle was seen in the area before and after the incident and Police want to speak to anyone that may have seen this vehicle or has any other information about this incident.
