Political Correctness Eats Its Own Nietzsche was a key - TopicsExpress

Political Correctness Eats Its Own Nietzsche was a key forerunner of political correctness in his denial of objective truth. In his words, There are no facts, only interpretations. Therefore each group has its own interpretation, its own truth. Now, ironically, Nietzsche himself is being banned. Robert P. George of Princeton writes in his FB status: The latest victim of campus illiberalism is . . . Nietzsche (of all people). I ask: Dont these people realize how toxic thought policing is to the mission of academic institutions? I answer: They simply dont believe in that mission. They are not interested in learning. They are convinced that they have nothing to learn. They already know it all, and know it infallibly. The object now is to ensure--and, if need be, to enforce--conformity. Were seeing it everywhere now: from Stanford to Swarthmore and from Rutgers University to University College, London. This. Is. Not. Good. People who support the cause of learning, people who recognize that freedom of thought and discussion are indispensable to the mission of any institution dedicated to that cause, must fight back. In this particular case, it should be people like me who reject Nietzsches philosophy root and branch who should be leading the fight to protect the discussion and defense of his ideas. We are the people who benefit most from being challenged by them. thedailybeast/articles/2014/06/05/university-college-london-s-nietzsche-club-is-banned.html
