Portsmouth area is great for boys so much to do. Sadly for my daughter not so much cant believe there is so little to do. Well unless you want to walk around endless bits of grass looking for birds and insects you can see anywhere. Dont even get me started on Gosport. If it wasnt for the Navy there really would be bugger all here. Gosport tourist information should be ashamed and close its doors. I go there and ask what is there to do in Gosport with an 8yr old girl? The answer ermmm... The Navy have some fantastic attractions. Yes but for an 8yr old girl? Ermmm.. well there is the isle of wight is great. Again I asked what is there to do in Gosport? Ermmm well there are three leaflets over there (pointing to a dismal rack) ok I say. So I look a one sided piece of paper about an historic village in Rowner, hmmm. Then two others inviting me to look round some scrub land Gosport (robbing, thieving, swindling, do bugger all) borough council jokingly refer to as a nature reserve. Which I might add I have to obtain a permit to visit, at cost no doubt, to look at a field I think not! The hapless assistant could see my distain so ask do you have a car? No I answer. Oh shame because there are attraction in Fareham. Oh, she went on, there is always fort Brockhurst! Hmmm dont think she grasped that my daughter actually does not enjoy military historia she likes pink and barbies. Seeing I was getting nowhere I shorted the rambling and stated what I believe she was trying to say so nothing to actually do in Gosport Now feeling defensive and in need to defend the honour of the Navys no neglected backyard (if it was a backyard it would be the overgrown type with Haslar representing a rusty barbque in the corner) she says well we have the Navy heritage exhibit and Gosport museum in the discovery centre or there is the diving museum Feeling her desperation to impress someone who was not a slack jawed yokel or senile pensioner (and realising the concept of child entertainment was wasted on the obviously cat keeping 50+ spinnster was wasted) I smiled and thanked her for efforts took some leaflets of other much more interesting towns and left. OH GOD BRIGHTON I MISS YOU! Rant over goodnight. That is all
