Posted by Ogbomoso MuslimsForum STILL ON THE STRUGGLE ON THE OLD MUSLIM EID PRAYING GROUND, OGBOMOSO In the name of Allaah the most High. May peace and blessing of Allaah be upon our noble prophet Muhammad(sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam). May the blessimgs and the benedictions of Allaah be showered on the Muslims who follows the path of Guidance. This is the written on acquaint all. Especially for thd benefit of of all Muslims, to the issue on ground, just to put all thd points straight. Ogbomoso is the one of the prominent towns in Yorubaland, popularly referred to as the land of the valour. The inhabitant of the town have been practicing Islaam before advent of any other prominent religion in Nigeria, since the era of the first Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ogunlola(1658-1714). Observing Solaah is the one of the most important pillars of Islaam and none of the prominet kings(rulers) in Yorubaland has ever opposed(intentionally or mistakenly) the practice since inception. This is to an extent, that the Yoruba kings prefere the construction of the mosques in the vicinity of the palace, for easy accessibility. In Ogbomoso, the old Muslim Eid praying ground is the secound piece of land on which Muslims in Ogbomoso used to observe the Eid praying before the decision to migrate to the new Eid praying ground near Onipaanu, along Ogbomoso-Ikirun road. This is, to a great extent, with the advice of current Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunnim Oyewumi, Ajagungbade 111. In 1953, the Muslims in Ogbomoso started observing Eid prayer in the old Eid praying ground, opposite LAUTECH TEACHING HOSPITAL with the ardent advice of Oba Lawani Oke Olanipekun(kingship reign: 19 October, 1944-29 March, 1952). Although Oba Olanipekun was the one who admired such and nourished the notion of establishing the praying ground, this did not materialise until after he was deceased. After the demise of Oba Olanipekun, Oba Olatunji Alao Elepo(1952-1966) is the first Soun to observe the Eid Prayer together with the generality of the Muslims in the old Muslim eid praying ground. The lance once belonged to the family of the Bolodeoku Odunaro Apaebu. Afterwards, Oba Olajide Olayode(22 July, 1966- 1st July 1969) signed the agreement to assign the hectares of land at the old Eid praying ground entirely to the Muslims, during the Imamship of Sheikh Muhammad Maruf Abogunde(1936-1976). This land was purportedly alloted to the Muslims, just like plots of land were alloted to people of other religions for the purpore of religion activities, during the era. To the great shock and suprise of Ogbomoso Muslims, the said hectares of land at the old Muslim Eid praying ground now suddenly become a subject of dispute between the Muslims of Ogbomoso and Oba Jimoh Oladunnin Oyewumi. Recently, it was discovered that he was cunningly planning to acquire the said piece of land for his personal use after several declaration in the public by Oba Oyewumi that the land belong truly and solely to Ogbomoso Muslims. In 1991, a barrier(fence) was errected to demarcate the boundaries of the land at the old Muslims Eid praying ground with the financial assistance from Ogbomoso Muslims as well as from Ogbomoso living outside the town, most especially those livieg in Northern Nigeria as well as those in Diaspora, To put recor straight, the declartion that the disputed land belongs to Ogbomoso Muslims were publicly proclaimed on seven prominent and well attended occasion which were stated as follow: 1: During the turbaning ceremony of Imaam Hamzat Alawiye as the Imaam of Ogbomosoland(1976). 2 During the coronation of Alhajj Adeleke Owodunni as the the First Aare Musulumi of Ogbomosoland. 3 Durin the first opening of the Ogbomoso Central Mosque, Ojagbo, Ogbomoso(1985) 4. During the coronation of Imaam Ahmad Adetayo as the chief Imaam of Nuruddeen Society of Nigeria. 5. During the celebration of the completion of the renovation of Ogbomoso central mosque, Ojagbo, Ogbomoso(2005) 6. During the coronation of Alhajj Ganiyy Owodunni as the secound Aare Musulumi Ogbomosoland. 7. During the coronation of Alhajj Aalim Sarumi as the Basorun Musulumi of Ogbomosoland. Most of these events took place on the dispute piece of land and the decision to move to new Muslim eid praying ground is to allow for the daily increament and expansion of Muslim population in Ogbomoso. In addition, all the found generated on all these great occasions remain till date in the custody of Oba Oyewumi and the special committee setup then, with the promise that the funds will be used to establish a new Ogbomoso Central mosque on the said piece of land at the Muslim Eid praying groun. Opposite LAUTECH TEACHING HOSPITAL. TILL TODAY, THE PROMISE REMAINS UNFUFILLED WITHOUT DECLARATION OF THE STATUS OF THE FUND TO THE GENERALITY OF OGBOMOSO MUSLIMS. Because of this issue, the meeting was held by Ogbomoso Muslim Community attended by Ogbomoso Muslims included the league of Imaams and Alfas of Ogbomosoland at Ojagbo Central Mosque, Ogbomoso on Sunday, 19th January, 2014. In the meeting, all Ogbomoso Muslims concluded that all Ogbomoso central mosques, organizations, individual should donate the blocks and drop them at that place(Ogbomoso Muslim Praying ground at Opposite Lautech Teaching hospital), in order to use that land for Islamic Center This land is the property of Muslims and nothing must happen to it. May Almighty Allaah help Islaam and Muslims everywhere in the world. PLEASE SHARE THIS POST
