Praia - 3 October - According to the National Radio, American foreigners (see previous news) not resident in Cape Verde, which in the last 30 days have been in the United States of America, due to Ebola case registered in the USA, are henceforth prohibited from entering the country. The decision was made yesterday by the Cabinet and announced today by the Health Minister, Cristina Fontes Lima. This week American authorities announced the registration of the first imported case of Ebola in the country, where about 80 people had contact with the patient diagnosed with the virus in Dallas. Duncan was the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the United States, where he was interned at the Presbyterian Hospital of Texas, last Sunday, after officials of the same hospital having sent him back home, mistakenly, days before. In Cape Verde there will be exceptions for humanitarian reasons, medical emergency, economic or other of public interest. Cristina Fontes Lima also said that Senegal will leave the list of banned countries next Thursday. Next week, the Council of Ministers will meet again to assess the disease progression and possibly take further action.
