Press Release DATE OF INCIDENT: June 27, 2014 TYPE OF INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2(a) – Felony Evading in Vehicle, CVC 20002(a)(1) – Hit and Run, CVC 14601.1(a) – Drive while License Suspended, PC 148(a)(1) – Resisting, Obstructing & Delaying a Peace Officer and HS 11364.1(a) – Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia. LOCATION: City of Ridgecrest. SUSPECT: Haleman, Thomas Henry – 38 year old Ridgecrest Resident. RESUME OF INCIDENT On 06/27/2014, at about 5:10 am, Officer’s Groves and Joseph were patrolling in the area of E. Rader Ave. They observed a Cadillac travelling on E. Rader Ave. directly in front of them and noticed the license plate had expired registration. They attempted a traffic stop on the Cadillac as it approached the intersection of E. Rader Ave. and S. Silver Ridge St. The Cadillac failed to stop at the posted stop sign at that intersection and turned S/B onto S. Silver Ridge St. The driver of the Cadillac (identified as Thomas Haleman) accelerated away and proceeded S/B on S. Silver Ridge St. After a short vehicle pursuit, Haleman foot bailed from the vehicle and the unoccupied vehicle rolled into a utility box, causing minor damage to the box and vehicle. A foot pursuit ensued and Haleman was apprehended in the Green Acres mobile home park, located at 700 S. Silver Ridge St. Haleman was arrested and transported to the Central Receiving Facility – Bakersfield, where he was booked for the listed charges. RONALD N. STRAND, Chief of Police PREPARED BY: Sgt.
