Provo Police Arrest Attempted Bank Robber On December 4th, 2014 at approximately 12:40 PM, a white male in his fifties entered the Wells Fargo located at 66 E 1650 N in Provo. The male was wearing a disguise that consisted of a hat, wig, sunglasses, and a surgical mask. The male handed the teller a handwritten note demanding money. However the instructions on the note were ambiguous; the teller understood she was being robbed, but asked the suspect a question to clarify the instructions on the note. The suspect then told the teller she was taking too long, said “I’m sorry,” grabbed the note from the teller, and left the bank. Officers and detectives responded to the area and began searching for the suspect. Shortly after the attempted robbery, a Provo Detective observed a male whose age and height matched the robber’s description at 1230 N Canyon Road. The detective stopped the male who had already disposed of most of his disguise. The detective and officers conducted an investigation and recovered items related to the attempted robbery. Officers then booked the suspect, 51 year old Brian Gresl into the Utah County Jail for Attempted Bank Robbery, a third degree felony.
