Psa 119:114-Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.Nothing like having the security and protection that we have in the Lord. Mix that with the hope in thy word and you really have something! Hear Matthew Henry-.... Gods care of David to protect and defend him, which he comforted himself with when his enemies were very malicious against him: Thou art my hiding-place and my shield. David, when Saul pursued him, often betook himself to close places for shelter; in war he guarded himself with his shield. Now God was both these to him, a hiding-place to preserve him from danger and a shield to preserve him in danger, his life from death and his soul from sin. Good people are safe under Gods protection. He is their strength and their shield, their help and their shield, their sun and their shield, their shield and their great reward, and here their hiding-place and their shield. ... What a place of safety and refuge! We are reminded also of Pro 18:10-The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Also one is reminded of Davids words in Psa 46:1-God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Do you know that hiding place? We most assuredly also think of Corrie ten Boom who was a Dutch Christian who, along with her father and other family members, helped many Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during World War II and was imprisoned for it. Her most famous book, The Hiding Place, describes the ordeal. Hallelujah for the hiding place of Jesus and the refuge in His grace. Amen? The psalmist continues by stating I hope in thy word. John Gill adds-... I hope in thy Word; in Christ the Word, for acceptance and justification, for peace, pardon, and eternal salvation; all which are in him: in the word of promise, for all supplies of grace, strength, light, life, and comfort here, and for glory hereafter, contained therein... What a combination! A hiding place of refuge, a shield of protection, and the Word in which to hope! We have the same assets today! It has been said that you can tell a lot about a person by what they turn to in trouble. Do you turn to Jesus? He is all we will ever need. Glory to His Name!
