Public Confession: Feast Days Continue Since Calvary Not too - TopicsExpress

Public Confession: Feast Days Continue Since Calvary Not too long ago, I recommended reading Pastor Prewitts article on feast-keeping. I had not done sufficient research myself and I do respect him highly as he often stands for what is truth; so I accepted his work. But I clung to my preconceived opinions. I had already accepted that it would be well for us to observe the biblical holy convocations, but I did not see it as a requirement. Since then I have done extensive research and have to the conclusion that I was wrong; so I am making a public confession of my mistake (in recommending an article with an unbiblical, but popular, belief). I would like to share some of my research as to why I now firmly believe that feast days did not cease at the cross... Before I believed that feast days and the ceremonial sacrifices were one and the same. Any time I saw a feast-keeper argue otherwise, I would just brush it off. That is all I could see, because when I read the Bible, I always saw all kinds of sacrifices and offerings attached to the feast days. This is all I was going by, and it was the only way I could think. I was not open to the light, even when Brent Chrishon, my spiritual partner, tried to convince me otherwise a year ago. At that time, I went to the Desire of Ages quote on Page 652 that states that the following: “As He ate the Passover with His disciples, He instituted in its place the service that was to be the memorial of His great sacrifice. The national festival of the Jews was to pass away forever. The service which Christ established was to be observed by His followers in all lands and through all ages. This, along with the fact that Ellen White did not keep the feast days, made me think that all the feasts ended. I influenced Brent and neither one of us believed in keeping feast days for about a year. But recently developments have been made in my journey that have led me to where I am now. First, God gave me an amazing discovery. I saw that all of the major prophetic waymarks are part of the Sabbatical and Jubilee cycle. A second discovery was made when I saw that a seven month extension has been made to prophetic time from 1798. William Miller had seen the seven months as being the latter part of the prophetic time, but that is because he thought Christ would come in 1843. Well, the seven months (Ezekiel 39) ends in 2008, which was a Sabbatical year, the end of the four generations since 1848 when the sealing light began (placing us in the final sealing generation), 120 years of preaching of righteousness by faith (like Noah) since 1888, and an economic disaster that will probably affect us until the end of time. I then could see that this Fall will be the first Sabbatical year since then. So, my interest in the whole biblical system in time greatly increased. I began watching the Karaite calendar to see when the Day of Atonement is, which will begin the Sabbatical year this Fall. I then became attracted to the feast days. I saw them as a real benefit since they are all related to the Sabbath, and as you probably know, Im a fanatic when it comes to proclaiming the Sabbath more fully. Anything Sabbath related I get very excited about, because I see that it serves as the framework of all prophetic truth. I believe that this is a subject that it would be well for us to be fanatical about--it is the seal, and we must receive it before the plagues come. Very recently, brother Shawn Hoffman shared with me this website: seekbibletruth.org Passover and Easter were close together this year, and I had halfway observed Passover, so I began to look into what he was sharing. What got me thinking is how the Catholics instituted Easter (after the Pagan goddess Ishtar) in the place of Passover. Why would they make such a change, in addition to changing Sabbath to Sunday? And isnt it true that times are plural in Daniel 7:25? Why would they make such a big deal about this change at the first ecumenical council ever and it being such a high priority on their docket? My search greatly intensified from there... There was an agenda, a conspiracy. They were trying to hide something huge. It was all part of the abomination of desolation. Eventually I realized what it was all about. The abomination is not about Sabbath and the feasts. The change is about her mark of authority to change Gods whole religion. The abomination is replacing Christ and His atonement with a human atonement system. But what does it have to do with Sabbath and the feasts? Lo and behold, it is on these very days that mystical Babylon conducts her mass, which she calls a sacrifice. I have been studying this abomination for the last year, so I knew what it meant. Christ still makes sacrificial atonement for our sins in the Heavenly Sanctuary. This will continue as long as sin continues. But Satan, through Babylon, has had the massive conspiracy to hide this reality. It is according to the timing of these feasts that Christ has undergone the phases of His atonement for our sins. And Sabbath is the very foundation, because Sabbath means rest, and His Sacrifice is the only thing in the universe that will give us rest from our sins, that we may have an eternal universe without sin and its suffering. Therefore, proclaiming the Sabbath more fully is proclaiming this rest. It is righteousness by faith at its highest, because the Fourth Commandment is the Commandment of faith. And this is what we must enter into for Gods Law of righteousness to be sealed in our hearts, that the end may come. So, you are probably wondering why Im saying that the feast days continue. I havent explained it from the Bible yet. To not lose our train of thought on the Sabbath, let me begin with this vital Scripture, recorded at the beginning of the feast days with their ceremonial system attached... Leviticus 23:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, [Concerning] the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim [to be] holy convocations, [even] these [are] my feasts. 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day [is] the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work [therein]: it [is] the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. 23:4 These [are] the feasts of the LORD, [even] holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. And then it begins with Passover and runs to the Tabernacles... Here is what I want to point out: The Sabbath Day is the foundation of the whole sacrificial system. I believed this before. But this is what is new: The Seventh-day Sabbath is a feast day itself! You can see from Numbers 28 (vs. 9 & 10) that special ceremonial sacrifices are attached to this as well. And we also know that the showbread in the sanctuary was replaced each Sabbath Day. Now here is the thesis for my testimony: If we are Sabbath-keepers, then we ought to be also feast-keepers, Because the Sabbath Day is the foundational feast day! (We can see this by how it is divinely positioned in Leviticus 23.) It is the seal of the living God for what it stands for: Rest from all our sins. But the other feast days are all extensions to this weekly feast. Why are they not in the Ten Commandments? Because they could not have all fit! The Sabbath means rest--rest from sin, which is selfishness. But that rest can only come through the Sacrifice of Christ. This is the source of our rest and refreshing, And once we assemble ourselves and gather around Him, We will see that this is our Source of the Latter Rain! The ceremonial law (the ordinances of priestly rites, sacrifices, and offerings) All pointed forward to Christ our High Priest and Lamb. The earthly sanctuary pointed forward to the Heavenly. But the days of commemoration remain the same. What was done in type ended. We are now to commemorate what is done *in fact*! If we use the argument that since ceremonial offerings are attached to the feast days, that we dont have to keep them (as I had done), then we would have to stop keeping the Seventh-day Sabbath to be consistent, because that feast also had ceremonial ordinances attached. The Bible is clear what ceased at Calvary: And He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week *He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease* (Daniel 9:27). The Spirit of Prophecy is clear what ceased at Calvary... Let me share Ellen Whites commentary of one of the most controversial quotes in the Bible--the primary one that is used by Sunday observers to try to prove that the Seventh-day Sabbath was nailed to the Cross, and the primary one that is used by Sabbath-keepers to try to prove that the feast days were nailed to the Cross; then I will share the text itself, followed by my commentary. I believe that this text, when interpreted by the context, is the best New Testament text in support of feast-keeping... The plan of saving sinners through Christ alone was the same in the days of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and in every successive generation that lived before the advent of Christ, as it is in our day. The patriarchs, the prophets, the martyrs from righteous Abel, looked forward to a coming Saviour, and they showed their faith in him by *sacrifices and offerings*. (Note: This is before the feasts were ever proclaimed.) *The sacrifice of beasts* shadowed forth the sinless offering of Gods dear Son, and pointed forward to his death upon the cross. But at the crucifixion type met antitype, and the typical system there ceased... Christ is the substance or body which casts its shadow back into former dispensations. When Christ died, the shadow ceased. At the death of Christ the typical system was done away, but the law of God, whose violation had made the plan of salvation necessary, was magnified and made honorable ... It is just as essential for us to have faith in our Redeemer, who came to earth and died our sacrifice, as it was for the ancients to believe in a Redeemer to come, represented by *their offerings and sacrifices*. --Signs of the Times, February 20, 1893 What is the shadowy typical system? It is the Old Testament offerings and sacrifices. The substance of the shadowy sacrifices is Christ our Lamb. Never here, or anywhere else, Does Ellen White or the Bible announce that the feast days ended. Now here is the actual Bible text: (Watch for the two magnified verses...) Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 2:15 [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 2:16 LET NO MAN THEREFORE JUDGE YOU IN MEAT, OR IN DRINK, OR IN PART OF AN HOLYDAY, OR OF THE NEW MOON, OR OF THE SABBATH DAYS: 2:17 WHICH ARE A SHADOW OF THINGS TO COME; BUT THE BODY IS OF CHRIST. 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 2:23 Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. There are multitudes of interpretations of this text, But we must go with what the Bible says. Let us analyze Verse 16. The meat and drink is referring to meat and drink offerings. The words ‘in part’ means as a part of and I’m using the margin here. The Sabbath Days are Seventh-day Sabbath Days. How do I know these things? Because of where Paul is quoting from: Ezekiel 45:17 And it shall be the princes part [to give] burnt offerings, and *meat* offerings, and *drink* offerings, in the feasts (*holydays*), and in the *new moons*, and in the *sabbaths*, in all solemnities of the house of Israel The same five items are mentioned, And they are in the exact order that Paul mentioned them. Also take notice that the meat and drink is separated from the rest. And if you look at the context of Ezekiel 45, You will see that he is talking about sacrifices and offerings, not days. The subject matter is the meat and drink offered, And they are offered on feasts, new moons, and Sabbaths. Nowhere in the Bible when Sabbaths are mentioned like this is it referring to annual Sabbaths. But our traditional interpretation is that they are because we had no better explanation; the correct explanation would have forced us to keep the feast days, which God did not see fit to reveal to us since He wants us to first fully know what their purpose is in the plan of salvation, which we have not known until that Sabbath was proclaimed more fully. God has winked at our ignorance. But did you know that Ellen White never interpreted it to mean annual Sabbaths? And did you know that she never used the term ‘ceremonial Sabbaths’, because there is no such thing? So, what is this text really saying? First, we need to realize the context. This section of Colossians (Chapters 1 and 2) is speaking about what is known as the Colossian heresy—a heresy regarding the gnostics, who were the precursors of the Catholic church. Inspired by Satan, they believed in secret wisdom that only the elite could understand, just like the secret societies that would follow after them. The secret wisdom is that Jesus Christ never died for us on the Cross and bore our sins there, but rather He was mystical and so holy that we could never approach Him; rather, we would need human and angelic intercessors to approach Him and God. They believed that our bodies are evil and we would have to purge them of sin through our own efforts, which involved both painful and mystical exercises (later coined ‘spiritual formation). Now that we understand the context we can better identify what Paul is preaching about. His sermon is about Christ being our all in all for salvation—thus making human intercession, or atonement, heresy. ‘Voluntary humility’ of the body, ‘worshiping of angels’, ‘punishing of the body’ (margin), or other ‘ordinances’ or ‘rudiments of the world’ are ‘after the commandments and doctrines of men’ and can do nothing to merit our salvation. This all came from Paganism which tried to appease the angry gods. But this had no place in Christianity; albeit, it would become Catholicism. To support his sermon, he added that all the ordinances that used our own bodies and the bodies of animals that we sacrificed, ended at the cross. This includes circumcision. These were all shadows. But Christ is the body that fulfills our atonement, or intercession, in the New Testament. When Paul said, “Let no one judge you in meat, or in drink, (offerings, implied), or (offerings, implied) in part of holydays, new moons, and Sabbaths”, quoting from Ezekiel, it was a ‘by the way’-type statement. He basically said, “Don’t let anyone (probably the Jews) tell you that you need to make offerings when you go to celebrate the holy days. The ordinances of sacrifices and offerings ended when Christ became our Sacrifice. Therefore, let ‘no one (probably the gnostics) beguile you with enticing words’ that you should do bodily exercises for salvation. Christ is the body, yea the Sacrifice, that saves you. Christ in you is the hope of glory (1:27). It is a knowledge (gnosis) of Him that you need—not the gnosticism that salvation come from what you or any other created being can do.’ It is a tremendous sermon that Paul preached, and when we just take the time to look at the context, it all makes sense. In fact, it verifies that the feast days, with the new moons and Seventh-day Sabbaths, are still in effect. Paul’s mention of them proves their existence. Therefore, it goes right back to my thesis: If we are Sabbath-keepers, then we ought to be also feast-keepers. Christ says, “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” What was fulfilled at the Cross? Christ became our Sacrifice. That’s it. Period. Full stop. Only the sacrifice and oblation ceased, and hence the earthly sanctuary system. We are still Israel, and it is high time that our religion be restored that Babylon took away from us. It is written that Paul kept the feasts in several places. The claim is made that he only kept them to try to win some Jews. But if that is what is meant when Mrs. White says it would be “an insult to Jehovah” when referring to rites and ceremonies, or if that were part of the shadows that ended, it would have been blasphemy against God to keep the feasts. It is recorded in history that the early Christians kept the feasts, but then they were replaced by Catholic feasts with Catholic sacrifices (the mass). It is recorded that those who were excommunicated (e.g. the three horns of Daniel plucked out) kept the feasts. It is also recorded that the beloved Waldenses kept the feasts along with the Sabbath. They wrote songs for every feast day. And they wrote how they were still in effect, but changed by the Catholics. For more info on this history, here is a timeline: seekbibletruth.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=64:feaststimeline&catid=34:appointedtimes&Itemid=55 So, why did Ellen White say that the Passover was replaced? It is simple: The Passover is the only feast day that individual sacrifices were made. Each family had to slay their own Passover Lamb. But on all the other feast days it was the priest. Therefore, that day had to be changed. It was replaced with the Lord’s Supper. This term can be used interchangeably with Passover, Because it is the New Passover. Instead of sacrificing and eating a lamb, Christ is our Passover Lamb, And to commemorate this we have Communion. And because this new ordinance is so important, We are to do this more ‘often’ than just on Passover. There is no more excuse to neglect the precious opportunity we have to return to the feast days, and we can do it in full knowledge of the everlasting gospel. It will give our Church privilege to spend much more time discussing present truth—which is just what we need, because a lack of time is the number one reason we are not studying as we should. Also, this will fulfill the prophecies that Ellen White made that many blood-Jews will come to the light in the very last days. They will see that we are not rejecting God’s Law—even the Fourth Commandment in all of its fullness. And please remember this: it is not the days that are important; it is what we are celebrating them for. It is because we must come to appreciate the complete Sacrifice and atonement of Christ, which all these days commemorate—no more in type, but ‘in fact’. We have been deceived by Babylon for far too long. We need to get out of our minds that we are some new species after Israel, and that the feast days are part of the ceremonial law, and that the Sabbath Day is not a feast day itself, and that the term ‘feast-keeping’ is a dirty word that is against our faith. Satan, through Babylon, has implanted these things in our minds for one purpose: to distance us from the Jews—and that is who we are! We are Israel. And Satan separated us from our heritage so that we would never receive the fulfillment of the everlasting covenant that God anciently promised us. And the reason we haven’t received it yet is because our religion has not been fully restored. But now is time. Just as the Sabbath isn’t for its own glory, the other feast days are not for their own glory—it is for what they stand for. It gives us an experience! Otherwise this whole idea of Christ’s atonement in the Heavenly Sanctuary is just all head knowledge. We must have the experience! And having holy convocations on the set feasts to commemorate what they stand for gives us what we need to have a corporate Latter Rain experience. We have been missing out! (No, not on being called a feast-keeper—but having the opportunity to assemble ourselves and gather around our Great Sacrifice and receive His rest from our sins.) Friends, this will be power! Where these meetings will be and how they are conducted will have to be God’s order. I don’t know how many will receive this light. But it has really been made plain. When all the facts are put together, how can one reject it? Only by unbelief. And it is written in Hebrews 3 and 4 that that is what has caused our people to anciently not enter into the everlasting rest of God’s covenant—even resting from our own ways and taking time to be holy. My appeal is to consider the facts. Weigh the evidence. I tried to address all the main objections—ones that I have made myself. But when we consider what Christ has wrought for our salvation, and the rich experience to be gained, along with the intellectual knowledge that the holy days were never meant to end when the Old Testament ceremonies attached to them ended, “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation” (Hebrews 2:3)? It is all by God’s Providence that things are happening the way they are now. It was never God’s will that our religion was changed, but God always knew about the Plan B—the Plan of salvation out of B—Babylon. He knew that would be now. We are beyond 2008 (the seven months extension of prophetic time) and approaching our first Sabbatical of this year of this final generation. Time cannot go on. I don’t expect you to know this prophecy if you haven’t studied it yet, but look at the signs of the times. We know not the day, nor the hour, nor the year of the end of probation, but it will come once we enter into the full everlasting covenant of rest. The Fourth Commandment is now being proclaimed more fully, especially now with the understanding of holy days extending from the Seventh Day Sabbath that we may assemble ourselves and take time to appreciate so great the salvation that Christ has wrought for us. And once we grasp this message and have its refreshing experience, preaching it to all the world, then the end will come. Christ is our only hope of salvation. The faulty ordinances warned by Paul are not the biblical holy days—these ordinances are the counterfeit ones that Babylon replaced them with, with Easter being foremost. The whole satanic purpose was to replace Christ’s atonement with human atonement, that we would never receive the promise of the everlasting covenant. But praise God, a new day has come. Who will now turn to the Lord and be broken before Him? Who will come to reverence Him and His holy Sanctuary in heaven? Who will be gather with us to receive His Latter Rain and be refreshed and fulfill the ancient promises? Who will keep this new moon beginning Tuesday night and have a whole new experience in Christ—seeking in Him freedom from the sins that have had you enslaved for so long? Now is the opportunity. Now He has given us grace. Soon His Sacrifice for sins will cease. Where will we be when Babylon falls? We live in an awesome, yet solemn, time. May Jehovah God richly bless you As you receive His covenanted blessings for Israel.
