Public Meeting to be Held Next Wednesday: Idaho Falls Greenbelt – Past, Present & Future City of Idaho Falls welcomes input on future plans for the Idaho Falls Greenbelt The public is invited to the City of Idaho Falls, “Idaho Falls Greenbelt – Past, Present & Future” public meeting on Wednesday, November 13th, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Residence Inn, 635 W. Broadway, Idaho Falls, Idaho. There will be presentations from 7:00-8:00 p.m. by Greg A. Weitzel, Director of the Division of Parks & Recreation; Scott Pierson, President of Pierson Land Works, the architectural firm developing the renewal plan for the Greenbelt; Joe Gilpin, Principal for Alta Planning + Design, who is currently developing the Connecting Our Community city-wide plan for bicycle and pedestrian improvements; and Nate Durtschi, Owner and CEO of Rock Solid Landscape, who will discuss potential water features along the Greenbelt, including conceptual drawings of a newly proposed war memorial honoring veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Weitzel states, “Review of the Connecting our Community survey that was distributed in the utility bill a couple of months ago showed that 80% of the survey participants viewed the Greenbelt as a primary destination for our community. This meeting is a great opportunity for the public at large to help shape the future of the Greenbelt, and all ideas will be welcome.” Following the presentations, the public will have an opportunity to review maps and conceptual drawings as well as share ideas and concerns from 8:00-9:00 p.m. during round-table discussions. The discussions will focus on four main areas: Connecting our Community, Memorial Falls, Programs & Special Events and Future Facilities. For those unable to attend the meeting, the Parks & Recreation Division invites the public to email suggestions and ideas to Greg A. Weitzel at [email protected] or by posting on the City’s Facebook page.
