Public Service Announcement Yesterday, Randy heard screaming and crying coming from the office next to him. When he arrived on the scene, he found a co-worker completely distraught. Come to find out, she was the recipient of a horrible phone call where the caller told her that her son was in an accident and had killed his nephew. He said he was holding her son hostage at gun point and wanted money. The caller was able to identify her son’s car and knew his name. Eventually, she had the presence of mind to call her son and find out he was completely fine at work and that this was a scam. The police were called and they said that this type of thing is going on all the time now. People are able to collect just enough information to sound credible and scare the daylights out of innocent victims. Be forewarned to check out any calls of this type before you decide to send money to an unknown caller.
