Pulchronomics: the economic value of beauty. According to Dr Bryan Mendelson, beautiful people not only earn more money but they also have better relationships. He also argues that beauty help people get promotions, succeed in interviews and earn more money than the not good looking ones. This point is also supported by the US economist Daniel S Hamermesh, who put the economic value of beauty at $230000,00. He says that beauty pays and people who are born beautiful stand a good chance to be successful. Pretty people still get the best in life it seems. Catherine Hakim also wrote a book called Erotic Capital: power from boardroom to bedroom where she encourages women to use their beauty to get ahead in life. This is because beauty pays more than education in some cases. The study in China has also find that the husbands of unappealing women earn 10% less than their counterpart who married the pretty ones. It seems our failures in life are mostly in our genes.
