Qualifications and Personal Suitability: Visitor Center Counselor - Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce JOB DESCRIPTION Must be able to work weekends and holidays. • Excellent knowledge of the local area and tourism opportunities in the region • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills • Strong cash handling skills • Experience in the tourism industry and retail sales an asset • Able to work independently, as well as part of a team • Able to work well under pressure and demonstrate initiative • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays • Resourceful with strong problem solving skills • Ability to speak a second language fluently an asset. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Welcome visitors - Greet all visitors to the Visitor Centre in a friendly and professional manner, answer phone calls in a timely manner, keep Visitor Centre building and outside surrounding grounds tidy and organized. Determine visitors’ needs and provide complete and accurate information - Answer all visitor inquiries, whether in person, by phone or via email. Ensure information provided to visitors is current, accurate and complete, including publications, brochures, maps, community announcements/event information and reference materials. Keep brochure racks well-stocked and organized. Post current information of interest to visitors such as Tourist Alerts, road and weather reports. Promote local events and activities - Promote local tourism products, services and events, plan travel itineraries in response to visitor inquiries and encourage longer and/or return visits. Sales – Assist visitors with booking accommodations and tours, provide cost details for events, and sell in-house retail and souvenirs.
