Question for the Brain Trust- Got a young soldier thats a friend - TopicsExpress

Question for the Brain Trust- Got a young soldier thats a friend of mine, has a jacked up knee. In Korea he did physical therapy for it, and then came stateside. He cant run, and is in a similar situation to what I was in after Iraq. Anyway, the docs told him in Korea if the physical therapy didnt fix it, it would require surgery and even then still possibly a med board. Now hes got a section sgt with a hard on for him, and hes worried about getting kicked out and keeping his GI Bill. I told him to go to the docs, and start getting his shit taken care of. I think hes worried about nothing, but you never know the rate theyre kicking folks out these days. I hate to see anyone in the same predicament I was in, with a legitimate injury but labeled (real and/ or perceived) as a shitbag because of it. Years later I realized that while there were some that talked shit and doubted me, a lot of it was also my own guilt, as I watched friends succeed and do the things Id always wanted to do, and my own pride and misperceptions of what others thought of me. But this isnt about me, its about this kid with a bad knee and a douchebag NCO. I told him to take care of himself, and piss on the douchebag. Anyway, if any of my more experienced friends have advice for this kid, please rock n roll with it. Its much appreciated.
