Question for the group ... Utah statistics show that somewhere around 80% of all motorcycle/scooter accidents involve riders with no formal training. If I recall, rider deaths are even higher. Im not knocking ANYONE here, not the point at all, but I am looking how we, the Motorcycle Safety Instructors, can better get the word out and make our community safer. So, for those of you who ride but never received any formal training, why havent you taken any training? Why havent you taken a Beginner course (BRC) or the experienced course (ERC/BRC2), or an Advanced Rider Course (ARC) or a Bike Bonding course (BB) or track days via the Utah Sport Bike Association? Your reasoning can help us better understand the community and help where we can, If you are open to training, what would you want that to consist of? Again, this isnt to knock anyone whos never taken any formal training, but rather to help understand the reasons why and to perhaps see what we can do. The Stats show, a trained rider is less likely to crash. What can we do to help? Full disclosure .. Im a rider coach with UtahRiderEd (utahridered)
