Question from one of our readers: I started hygiene using the Cavitron-type ultrasonic, and learned to love it. Now Im using the Piezo, and although I got comfortable with it, I still feel like it is less effective on settings that are appropriate for subgingival debridement. I feel that the higher settings that work well for calculus removal supragingivally can be too aggressive for the soft tissue for sub gingival debridement, yet still leave deposits behind. I feel that tactile sensitivity is much better with the Cavitron, even on higher settings. Any thoughts/ advice? Please leave your feedback/suggestions below. Do you have a question?
