Quiet as kept, there is one positive slaves movie called Quilombo. It is a 1984 Brazilian drama film directed by Carlos Diegues. The film tells of the story of West African Slaves that revolted against the Portuguese colonist in Palmares in Brazil in the 1600. These slaves ruled the town for almost 100 years. There was over 30,000 black citizens that lived in the town and they used their West African Orishas to help in the fight. The most famous leader called Ganga Zumba would often be depicted as the Orisha Shango when going into battle. These people carried their African energies which gave them the power. These tradition were outlawed as the Catholics did not want blacks to access there own power. Check it out. ~Edison Agbandje~
