RACE called “LIFE” ( Pink Run 2014) by:MGR They Run the Race called life. A Marathon that no one knows where and when is the Finish Line. Some finished strong, some did not make it. Some are still on the winding road. Most of all, it is not easy to keep on running without a support. So in line with the Breast Cancer Awareness month (October), Pink Run 2014 was organized to continue its campaign in D ’Feeting breast cancer and promoting breast cancer awareness last October 5, 2014. Proceeds of the event will help indigent breast cancer patients and ongoing projects for breast cancer awareness. The Philippines is now reported to have the highest incidence rate of breast cancer in Asia and is among the top 10 countries with the most cases of breast cancer. One out of every 13 Filipino women is expected to develop breast cancer in her lifetime, medical authorities said. Breast cancer is the most common in the country as confirmed by the Department of Health and the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc. It brings a dark cloud of fear, uncertainty, or even panic to the patient as well as her family to learn about the dreaded big “C” falling on a loved one. ( Phil Daily Inquirer Oct.2, 2013). I remember the first Pink Run in Bacolod THE PINK RUN 10-10-10. It was a very nice date. I saw how may people supported the event. It was probably the biggest number of runners/walkers who participated in a Run for a cause in Bacolod City. The whole of Lacson street was in PINK. My first Pink run was in Oct. 2011. From then on, I made it a point i to join this Run every year because of its very good cause. Sadly, this year, I was not able to join but I am still glad to be a part of the committee in organizing the run. Being a mother and a woman, Let me HONOR those who worked hard for Pink Run through the years and most especially the SURVIVORS, those who are still fighting and those who have gone ahead of us fighting for this BIG “C”. Continue to PRESS ON towards the goal. As the song goes “Running the race to win... all the way to the end, always keeping our eyes on our LORD JESUS” Lastly, as we had our thanksgiving mass yesterday Oct.14, 2014, I cant help but thank God for all the blessings . I remember a saying from Abraham Lincoln and I paraphrase A lot of things can be accomplished if nobody cared who got the credit. To God be the Glory! ***Photos taken during the thanksgiving mass at Riverside Chapel and Kadughan Foundation turning over to iRun Bacolod items that we can use for Funrun management.*** Keep on running....
