RAINFALL TOTALS & MORE RAIN/STORMS AHEAD Were expecting to see more rainfall and thunderstorm activity over the next few days into this weekend, with widespread falls in excess of 100 mm looking likely for the next few days. The Bureau of Meteorologys Terminal Aerodrome forecast issued this morning is warning aviation pilots of an increased risk of thunderstorm activity affecting the Mackay area this afternoon and tonight. Thunderstorms this weekend will be accompanied by Heavy rainfall with rainfall totals from thunderstorms likely to be in the 50 to 100 mm for most locations, depending on how close you get to the actual core of the thunderstorm. Rainfall forecasts for: Today (Friday): 50 to 125 mm expected for inland areas that receive storms this afternoon, 15 to 50 mm expected for the Pioneer valley and out to Nebo and 10 to 20 mm currently expected for Mackay, though these values could be higher depending on exactly where thunderstorms do develop. Saturday: More storms and more rain expected Saturday. 15 to 25 mm expected inland, around 40 mm expected for most coastal areas of the Mackay and Whitsundays district, with some areas likely seeing falls around 100 mm depending on where storms develop. Sunday: Easing back significantly Sunday, falls of less than 5 mm expected inland and only around 5 to 15 mm expected around coastal areas.
