RE: APC DIRECTIVE TO ITS MEMBERS IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO FRUSTRATE PASSAGE OF BUDGET AND CLEARANCE OF MINISTERS--- A CLEAR INVITATION TO ANARCHY AND A CALL FOR MILITARY COUP! I have read with nostalgia the directive of APC to National Assembly Members to frustrate passage of budget and clearance of minister sent by President of Nigeria. I make bold to say that this directive will be counter productive, heat up the system unnecessarily and Nigerians will be the ultimate victim of this naked power play for the following reasons: 1. If budget is not passed, nothing will move in Nigeria and workers salary will not be paid. 2. If budget is not passed, no State in Nigeria(including APC States) will get monthly allocation. 3. If budget is not passed, there will be no election as INEC will not have access to money to prepare for election. 4. If budget is not passed, Boko Haram eradication operation will be impeded and Boko Haram will regain lost ground to the detriment of Nigerians. 5. If budget is not passed there will be anarchy in the land. On the directive to work against the clearance of Service Chiefs, I consider this as highly against the interest of Nigerians as Boko Haram will have the field day in the North and the consequences should better be imagined than experience. APC should remember that insecurity will affect the general election. On the clearance of Ministers sent by Mr. President, it will also have effect on Nigerians as the machinery of government will be slow in running and the States from which those Ministers came from will continued to be shortchanged. This is not to say that the Senate should not reject some names in that list that are not deserving of appointment like those still standing trial for corruption charges and call on Mr. President to immediately replace such names. Let APC note that Mr. President can spend Nigerian budget for six months without passage by the National Assembly and without recourse to any authority. Let APC also note that Nigerian Democracy is young and their supporters are looking up to them to make things happen. If what they are preaching is better life for Nigerians, then this directive will produce negative effect on Nigerians. Lastly, Military is watching events closely and if care is not taking and if the plan of APC to frustrate the passage of budget succeed and there is chaos in the land, I can bet it that Military will take over and we shall all go back to square one! I urge the Leadership of APC to remember the warning of the ace musician (Lagbaja) so that this Democracy will not be truncated as the worst Democratic government is better than the best Military government and reverse the decision as it is not in the interest of Nigerians(including APC supporters) because this will be a fulfilment of African proverb of when two elephants fight, the grass always suffer. Government is a continuum and there must be no vacuum at any time. APC should pursue taking over of power at the centre peacefully as against the self help strategy as directed as that will not work but worsen the already bad situation of Nigerians due to corruption at all levels(APC inclusive). Lets work together to get it right! God bless Nigeria! Tolu Babaleye Esq, Abuja-FCT.
