REACTIONS TO THE TRANSITION OF DR OLUSEGUN AGAGU The PDP IN Ondo State is completely devastated by the sudden death of Dr Olusegun Agagu, immediate past Governor of Ondo State, who died suddenly yesterday. It is on record that Dr Agagu was the founder of the Party in Ondo State, its mentor and absolute pillar of support for the Party in every ramification. He was a steadfast politician whose motive for political participation was to effect a development in the quality of life of his people. As Governor in Ondo State his government evolved policies at both macro and micro levels to enhance the standard of living in the State. He began a policy that was targeted at replacing the old primary school buildings in the State by building six hundred and eleven school blocks which translated to over three thousand classrooms, the building of health centres in every ward, comprehensive health centres and General hospitals in every local government in the State. Agagu’s administration constructed over one thousand kilometers of road in the State. He created the concept, construction and development of the Olokola Free Trade Zone and also established the Ondo State University of Science and Technology in Okitipupa among many other projects. To his credit, he left the sum of over N58billion in the State Treasury when he left office, this was made possible by his honesty and the transparent manner he managed the finance of the State. Agagu’s administration always told the people of the State how much money that accrued every month and to what purpose it would be expended, a policy his successor could not sustain and adhered to.
