REAL OR COUNTERFEIT? – (by Martin Best) Ive seen several posts on FB over the last several days making comments, statements, accusations, that certain physical manifestations being seen in some institutional church settings are not of Holy Spirit (real) but of some other spirit (counterfeit) because similar manifestations have been seen and recorded in other religions – specifically Hindu . OK . I do not doubt that there are spirits that mimic, copy, counterfeit the impacts and manifestations of Holy Spirit. It is part of any enemy’s game plan to confuse and destroy – it said that we are to test the spirits and that even satan can “appear” as an angel of light. . But what is being missed, from what I can understand, is that instead of stopping all manifestations of any move of Holy Spirit (laughter, shaking, joy, etc…) we actually need to see and experience more of the real Holy Ghost. You see, when individuals begin to work with currency their training to detect counterfeit is not to focus on the funny money (i.e. “spirit of coco puffs) – but instead it is to work with, play with, touch, feel, smell, the real currency. . Only by KNOWING the real can one detect the counterfeit, and to exclude all manifestations of Holy Spirit because of some counterfeit copycat in India or anywhere else only set the body of Christ up for failure by denying the fullness and power of Holy Spirit. . So instead of less – we need more, much more. And please don’t cherry pick why “true” manifestations of Holy Spirit are not real because you disagree with them. Test the spirits and see the fruit – otherwise David dancing before the Lord might have had some “religious” problems – oh wait…he did. . Or on the day of Pentecost the believers might have been accused of something like public drunkenness – oh wait…they did. And more and more and more. . Are we to seek after the manifestations? NO…we are to seek first the Kingdom of God…but to borrow another phrase – we shouldnt throw the Spirit out with the bathwater….
