REF - SI WEATHER & CLIMATE Heavy Rain Alert Number Fourteen issued by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service at 7:00 am this morning on Monday 28th April 2014. A Heavy Rain Alert is inforce for Choiseul, Western, Isabel, Central, Guadalcanal and Rennell/Bellona provinces. Situation: A trough lies just south of Solomon Islands and links to a Low slow moving to the west of Western province. The low is expected to slowly move south-southeast direction with little development. Rain showers heavy at times with thunderstorms are expected within the next 24 to 48hours as the Low will later makes a turn towards the south-southeast direction. People should take precautionary measures as such localised Heavy Rain may lead to flash flooding to communities living close to rivers, streams and low lying areas.
