Racing selections 062913 Saturday I can’t say I spent much time considering the field in today’s fan favorite Triple Bend G1 over at soon to be shopping center Hollywood Park- long a sprint of distinguished sprinting winners the Triple Bend appears to be having its last run at the track of Lakes and Flowers- and as yet the Govenor has not called the warden up with an 11th hour reprieve for the ghetto surrounded race park- anyways, I immediately came to the conclusion that Morning Line, (Tiznow x Indian Snow x AP Indy) was as good a critter as I’d find in the entries- but now that some hours have passed since I sealed my envelope- a look at the grapplers in the 7 panel G! Triple Bend can’t hurt- and I count nine waiting to don the green jacket as the fastest sprinter west of the Rocky Mountains- The first Triple Bend -or a similar race before it was renamed Triple Bend to honor that creature who ran like liquid mercury into immortality- (at least out west) was run in 1952 and the winner was the son of mad War Relic - Intent-Brookfield Farms chestnut speedster who later amazed the racing world in carrying his speed vast distances- and we need thank Intent, for pretty much keeping the thin flame of the Matchem line alive and well in America! I am backing a son of the Matchem line in Morning Line- anyway some past winners of the Triple Bend who stand out for me anyhow-Robyn Dancer, later a popular Chesapeake Bay stud-Summer Time Guy, a hard hitting son of Gummo, a stallion who always brought smiles to the faces of NYRA snobs when I would speak his name- I always liked Gummo, for like me he wound up in the Antelope Valley- one of the most beautiful runners I ever cast a eye upon was Messenger of Song by Envoy who ran 1st in 1975- Morning Line, is a Matchem line sprinter and they have done well in this sprint in recent moons- such as Bilo & Unfurl the Flag, have taken the checkered flag - Morning Line, was a winner of the east coast Carter H’Cap so this race should not frighten him off his feed- long shot Dakota Phone Booth (?) beat him a head in a BC million heat -so- he seems to have plenty of class- his female contingent returns to Agnes Sard, the one horse billionaire horseperson WW Woodward, regretted having cast off his estates- ff 16-c- she was sired by all-time heavyweight Sardanaple, later dam sire of great Nashua- Jimmy Creed is also a G1 winner taking down the Malibu at day one of the Santa Anita winter meet 2013- he is a 3-N tribesmen & is sired by Forty Niner’ outstanding son Distorted Humor sire to Funny Cide etc. Rail Trip, is a veteran 8yo sired by AP Indy agent Jump Start, and I think he’d need a drink from Ponce De Leon’s fountains to score herein- he has won 1.5 millions so one last surge may still be within him but I wouldn’t count on it- his female tribe is 2-s but not Secretariat’s strand of it- Comma To The Top -should be out there winging and he knows where the winners circle is located- but he may be outclassed herein- a son of Bwana Charlie, from female family 1-x the outstanding La Troienne contingent of internationally acclaimed broodmares- he returns to Businesslike (1939)- Peter Miller is his conditioner CTTT prepped well in the LA Handicap- his stat sheet features many ones- Drill- is a son of Lawyer Ron, a fine racer and sire whose early death was a blow to US breeding- nevertheless, Drill has emptied a number of my mattresses with his lack of knowing how to win- I’m pretty certain he reduced me to cat food on toast in the Cash Call Futurity of 2011 etc. his 3rd dam was Little Current’s half sister by Nijinsky, the English triple crown winner- family 16-h Old time Hollywood habituate B. Headley sends out his allowance runner Cyclometer, in a bit of bravado, it is a son of “new” Cyclotron (Grand Slam) with earnings of just over 185K one need toss their Kelco Calculator away if putting their bonus money on him- but Mr. Headley knows how to read a pedigree and Cyclometer is also a La Troienne 1-x seed returning to Baby League, the older half sister to Businesslike- jumping from winning a 52K allowance event back in June 2012 (turf no less) to winning a G1 tip top sprint seems to run counter to reason- Mr. Ellis sends out Centralintelligence, a progeny of dual classic horse Smarty Jones - this horse is stakes placed but has never won a stakes that I know of -so it would be shocking to see him beat some of the grizzled speed rockets ahead of him on the program entries- nevertheless his dam was sired by amazing triple crown champion Seattle Slew, a horse who could eat ten inch nails and spit ‘em out while taking a bucket of Uncle Poke’s moonshine as an chaser! Might run well in other words- Tres Borrachos has been around the block more times than a Times Square hooker- and we must assume this son of Ecton Park is shooting for 4th money- Camp Victory pranced to victory last season in the Triple Bend as a 10-1 shot -he is a son of Forest Camp out of a Clever Trick matron, so speed is the breeding watchword and it has panned out that way for the dark brown gelding who will be ridden by Joe Talamo- he is a ff 3-G item with a decided Canadian tone in his paperwork- he is bred in Virginia like his landsman Secretariat! Having taken a look at this field I don’t feel ashamed about putting a few green artifacts on the nose of Morning Line, in the Triple Bend - Arlington 1-7 2-5 3-4 4-2 5-4 6-1e 7-1 8-1 9-2 10-2 11-4 Assiniboia 1-2 2-5 3-3 4-4 5-4 6-5 7-4 8-3 Belmont 1-5 2-2 3-1e 4-4 5-7 6-7 7-5 8-2 9-1e 10-9 11-7 Calder 1-3 2-5 3-4 4-1 5-2 6-5 7-6 8-6 9-8 10-5 Canterbury 1-4 2-6 3-8 4-6 5-2x7 6-2 7-2 8-13 9-1 10-6 11-7 Charles town 1-6 2-4 3-9 4-2 5-1 6-2 7-6 8-6 9-4 Churchill downs 1-5 2-2 3-3 4-3x4 5-9 6-2 7-1 8-3 9-1 10-3 11-2 Colonial 1-6 2-8 3-9 4-3 5-1 6-5 7-6 8-4 9-1e Delaware 1-4 2-5 3-6 4-1 5-6 6-3 7-1 8-1e Emerald 1-3 2-7 3-3 4-3 5-5 6-4 7-1 8-5 9-6 10-9 Evangeline 1-6 2-2 3-5 4-1e 5-4 6-8 7-6 8-1e 9-1 10-7 Fairmount 1-5 2-1 3-6 4-1 5-3 6-4 7-4 8-3 Finger lakes 1-6 2-1 3-1 4-7 5-8 6-6 7-1 8-2 Hollywood 1-2 2-7 3-3 4-2 5-4 6-3 7-1 8-5 9-1 10-2 Indiana 1-1 2-2 3-2 4-9 5-6 6-2 7-5 8-8 9-5 10-8 11-6 12-8 13-4 14-9 Lone star 1-8 2-8 3-6 4-3 5-2 6-1 7-10x9 8-2 9-7 10-5 11-7 Los Alamitos 1-1 2-6 3-6 4-4 5-6 6-5 7-5 8-5 9-2 Louisiana 1-2 2-2 3-5 4-6 5-4 6-2 7-8 8-4 9-7 10-2 Marquis 1-2 2-6 3-2 4-2 5-5 6-3 7-8 Monmouth 1-1e 2-6 3-1 4-6 5-5 6-6 7-2 8-1 9-2 10-1 11-1 12-1 Mountaineer 1-3 2-3 3-6 4-8 5-9 6-1e 7-4 8-8 9-2 Northlands 1-5 2-3 3-3 4-6 5-1 6-6 7-3 8-7 Parx 17 2-5 3-5 4-3 5-2 6-3 7-2 8-1 9-6 Penn 1-6 2-3 3-5 4-2 5-9 6-3 7-2 8-5 9-6 Pleasanton 1-5 2-3 3-4 4-2 5-5x6 6-4 7-3 8-3 9-7 10-6 11-4 Prairie meadows 1-2e 2-3 3-7 4-2 5-2 6-10 7-6 8-1 9-4 Retama 1-3 2-8 3-2 4-4 5-2 6-5 7-2 8-2 9-1 10-9 Ruidoso 1-1 2-6 3-3 4-1 5-3 6-5 7-1 8-8 9-2 10-2 11-4 12-2 Suffolk 1-1 2-2 3-6 4-1 5-3 6-1 7-1 8-6 9-4 Thistledown 1-6 2-2 3-8 4-1 5-4 6-7 7-5 8-3 Woodbine 1-5 2-7 3-4 4-4 5-2 6-1 7-8 8-1 9-3 10-1 )H)
