“Raja Handsome” Signs UK Deal In the latest development of the highly anticipated feature film set to be released later this year, the producers of “Raja Handsome” have signed a deal with a UK-based production company to co-produce the film. It was officially announced that major portions of the film will also be shot in London. “Our goal is to set new standards in the Bangladeshi film industry, and shooting in London with the help and support of Kaybee Pictures is the first of many steps we are taking to try and achieve this goal,” said Producer Ahad Mohammad Bhai. Kaybee Pictures, the UK production partner, will assist with the UK production and distribution aspects of the film. Kaybee Pictures has been a strong force in the UK film industry since it started in 1999. Though they have produced many films in the UK market, their main focus has been Bollywood-UK co-productions – the majority of large Bollywood films shot in the UK have been with their assistance. They were one of the pioneers of “cross-over films”, which have since become a huge hit, when they produced Rishi Kapoor’s “Sambar Salsa.” They have since been involved with many large productions and have worked with the likes of Salman Khan, Suniel Shetty, and Bobby Deol, to name a few. The company’s founder and Chairman, Renu Patel, thinks that Bangladeshi films have a big opportunity to go global. “For the last 15 years I have been pushing for the Indian Cinema to crossover with the West, I think I have achieved this target and now Bollywood is a major force in world cinema. I am really happy to see Kaybee involved fully with Bioscopewala Productions in Bangladesh, and I am sure we can achieve the same feat here and have Bangladeshi cinema slowly enter the UK market and a worldwide market too.” On why they chose “Raja Handsome” to be their first production with Bangladesh, Kaybee’s Managing Director, Niks Vaja, said “I believe in the producers of Raja Handsome that they are the right people to pioneer a real move for the Bangladesh Film industry to move forward.” Hassan Immam, Kaybee’s Executive Producer, believes that there is a big market in the UK for Bangladeshi films and that “Raja Handsome” should be well received by the UK-based Bangladeshi community. “This will be a huge step forward for the Bangladesh Film Industry. The Bangladeshis living in the UK will certainly be excited that a film will be shot within their community and then released in cinemas throughout the UK.” Producers confirmed that shooting in London is scheduled to take place after the first leg of shooting is completed in Bangladesh, and are expected to begin the London shoot by end of April. “Some of our most exciting scenes are going to be shot in London. This is totally new in our industry, and it will be a real treat for our audiences,” added co-Producer Mohammad Miraly.
