Rant of the Day - It is unfortunate, but there is a real issue locked inside this immigration reform that the President has proposed. It is ugly, and we dont want to admit it. As a country that prides itself in being intelligent and all, we thumb our noses at the jobs that seem menial. Somehow certain things are below us now and getting dirty for low pay is not for us. We are Americans. Well, if not us, then who. If you really sit up and start taking notice of where illegals are working and filling in jobs, then it will become quite easy to figure out what I am talking about. They will work hurt, sick, and do what they have to, to earn money to send back to their family. I know it isnt always this rosy. But let me tell you a little story. I knew a man who had a dairy farm. Every day he tended to his farm alone. Walking with a cane because his bull had run a horn through his hip. But everyday he would do as much work as necessary to keep things going. Barely getting by. Now mind you this man was alive in my life time and continued to live alone until his age, not his physical limitations forced him to move. Today, you see young people who are winded walking to school. People who walk into stores only to climb on an electric cart and ride around because it is to much for them. It isnt a politician that will change immigration reform. It will start with a mental change of everyone one of us. Next time you pick up a can of vegetables or a piece of fruit, stare at it. Get a vision in your head of who you think picked it. Or who planted it. It isnt all done from a tractor seat. Believe me that in the Bible when it says and the meek shall inherit the earth that they are talking about those willing to go forward quietly everyday and accomplish what needs to be done without flare and flash. Simply working hard to get things done. Every job no matter how low or how dirty. To win the battle of immigration we must take back these jobs and encourage our children to as well.
