Re – Advertisement VNO/2013/01 – Temporary Appointment: Knowledge Documentation for Youth and Innovations United Nations Children’s Fund Background The UNICEF Innovations Lab (IL) Kosovo is a vehicle enabling young people to transform their potential into strengthened capacity required for successful professional life, while concretely addressing existing social challenges within their communities and generating new employment opportunities through cultivation of innovative social entrepreneurship. In this context, UNICEF places a high priority on the availability of recent and reliable information with which to monitor and advocate for the situation of children, youth and women in Kosovo. Knowledge documentation is an integral part for strengthening country programme management and activities, monitoring Kosovo’s progress toward goals and commitments, and influencing public opinions on the situation of children, youth and women. Main Tasks Related to the Job Under the overall supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and Innovations Lab Manager, the Incumbent will have the following responsibilities: In line with UNICEF’s equity agenda, document and assess knowledge and results for youth; Document previous, current, planned projects of the IL’s Design Center, BYFY, and YAP pillars; Documet general Innovation Lab methodologies and modes of action; Develop “Best Practices” guide incorporating finding of the above mentioned deliverables; Support the Innovations Lab in implementation key research; Disseminate knowledge and results and contribute to strengthening evidence-based advocacy to elevate UNICEF’s effectiveness in policy debates; Support key institutions and counterparts to obtain/provide data and knowledge on youth; Liaise with key civil society partners in the youth sector to monitor progress for youth in Kosovo; Set-up an online platform / virtual library to increase knowledge on children, women and youth; Carry out field visits, when required, etc. Estimated Duration of the Contract: 364 days – tentative starting date 01 November 2013Reporting Line The Incumbent will report directly to the UNICEF Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and Innovations Lab Manager. Qualifications and Competencies Education University degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, Demography, Statistics or other relevant disciplines. Skills and Experience A minimum of 5 years work experience in an international development context and two years of relevant professional work experience in monitoring/evaluation and/or knowledge management; Experience in the coordination and/or management of quantitative and qualitative research; experience with high quality data collection; Strong computer skills and strong expertise in statistical analyses (familiarity with data processing and data analysis software); Experince in survey report writing; demonstrated ability to produce high quality writing in economic and social policy issues; Excellent oral and written communications in English; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Familiarity and previous experience of working in Kosovo highly desirable; Familiarity with real-time data collection and reporting, using mobile and web-based technologies is a plus.Other competencies Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective relationships both within and outside the organization; Interested candidates can collect P11 form at UNICEF office in Prishtina or through e-mail staring from 24th of September 2013 every working day from 10:00 to 17:00.
