Read my Article in Todays Greater Kashmir... NC-PDP Alliance – For Their Own Survival It’s time to forget differences and fight jointly with a well framed strategy YASIR WANI History has been created not only in India, but also at the state with a stupendous win for PDP. Not only south Kashmir (home pitch), they now represent central Kashmir as well as north Kashmir. They not only gained strong roots in their existing areas, rather they sprouted out in the cantonment areas by taking out the decades old rotten plants. In this very little time of the formation of PDP it is really a historic win for the party. In spite of being arisen as the single largest party, PDP is in catch 22 situation. Whether to go for an alliance with BJP, NC or Congress is the key question which is haunting them. Going back to few months of campaigning, it was the anti BJP speech they were regularly using. It is a fight between BJP and PDP was their main perk to lure the voters. Let me make them clear that an alliance with BJP would be beneficial for them but for a short term period, and in the next season of elections PDP will remain a history per se and will die a suicidal death. In nut shell PDP cannot afford to go with BJP! There is no doubt in the fact that BJP is set to make Article 370 a topic confined only to papers and take away its soul by its wicked political strategies. The best possible safeguard against this is the dominance of the state politics by regional parties. Therefore a marriage between NC, PDP and some Independents is the need of hour. PDP-NC alliance can also be regarded as an alliance for their own survival, as any deviation will show them an exit door in the future. Let PDP and people do not bother about the funds. BJP is in opposition in several states, but those states don’t complain against the non-availability of funds. It is in fact a fallacy which is being whispered among the general public. Though there will be an imbalance as far as the representation of Jammu division and Kashmir division is concerned, PDP-NC coalition will have some veracity. But both the parties can use it as a strong base to lure voters of Jammu region in the next coming elections. They can take few MLCs from Jammu region and provide them special ministerial positions in order to create a balance and accordingly make a firm foundation for their future course of political action in the next season of elections. I conclude by saying that Kashmiris have been lured for votes from all fronts mainly with the manifesto of solution of Kashmir issue and for safeguarding its special status. It has become a tough combat for the regional parties, and it is the time to forget their differences and fight jointly with a well framed strategy. As said by some intellectual, ‘there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics’. We are analyzing the politics and any deviation by regional parties can prove catastrophic for them.
