Read this Preye Aganaba PRESIDENT JONATHAN GRADUALLY BECOMING A DICTATOR : EKITI SPEAKER Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan was gradually turning into a dictator over the gale of impeachments being allegedly instigated against the Governors of All Progressives Congress. He described as ill-wind, capable of derailing the country’s democracy, the instigation of impeachment process against Governors in the opposition, saying the Peoples Democratic Party must retrace its steps for the country to be at peace. Making allusion to the removal of former Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, Omirin lashed out at the Adamawa Legislators over what he termed unwarranted and frivolous impeachment , saying this had further signalled a bad omen for Nigerias fledgling democracy and efforts being geared towards making the country a one-party State . In a press statement in Ado-Ekiti by his Special Adviser on Media, Wole Olujobi, the Speaker said the Federal Governments move to ensure that the PDP captured all the states of the federation was a threat to the plurality of political ideas, which was one condition for the survival of a plural state like Nigeria. He warned that the trend portend a great danger to multi-party democracy, if not checkmated. “We have seen the hands of the Federal Government in Rivers, Adamawa, Nasarawa and Edo States. Few days ago, the federal government deployed its instrument of terror to capture Ekiti State. This not only threatens the Federal system of government but also serves to create conditions for anarchy when we most need peaceful coexistence to grow our economy,” Omirin said. He advised the Federal Government to allow democracy to work in order for peace to reign, stressing that it was under peaceful atmosphere that Nigerians could reap the benefits of multi-party democracy. The Speaker also chided the Presidency for instigating impeachment in Adamawa and Nasarawa states, pointing out that it was surprising and unfortunate that the Federal Government led by President Goodluck Jonathan that could not account for $120b and has not been impeached should be the one instigating impeachment against the governors of Adamawa and Nasarawa states over unsubstantiated allegations of funds mismanagement, even as he expressed disappointment over the roles of lawmakers in the impeachment plots.thisdaylive/articles/president-jonathan-gradually-becoming-a-dictator-says-ekiti-speaker/183992/ President Jonathan Gradually Becoming a Dictator, Says Ekiti Speaker, Articles | THISDAY LIVE thisdaylive
