Reading a bit this morning about the interconnected global system - TopicsExpress

Reading a bit this morning about the interconnected global system of fossil fuels, and then about the details of the deaths of Michael Brown and Tamir Rice (here in Cleveland). Seeing it all as interconnected, and then experiencing a fairly disconnecting conversation with my mother. I could see how my rage and sadness over the shooting of Tamir Rice contributed to the energy I carried into that conversation. And seeing how my inability to be with her in love propagates up and outward into our disconnected communities, cities, country, and world. How our internal culture builds our outward culture. And I love this video. I find it to be beautiful and it resonates strongly with me. Peace Pilgrim carried just about the same message -- how can we build a just and joyous world if we each carry around a daily inner war? By learning about who we are -- by paying attention to who we are, and by holding ourselves with curiosity and a desire to understand ourselves. We can unlock our internal prisons with the keys of love. And Im aware I have more grieving and learning to do, and a desire to connect with my Mom -- who fortunately for me, loves me unconditionally, and isnt a trigger-happy white cop (thats my judgmental language coming out for you). I hope that youre able to feel with Tamir Rice and his family and his community and with the police involved. I hope youre able to grieve, and I wish you the strength and encouragement to do the work to connect with others around your pain (and your joy). This world is starving for empathy -- I hope you can find what it takes to give some to yourself, and then rejoice in your capacity and ability to give that understanding and presence to others and teach them how to do so as well.
