Report of Missing Mountain Lion Determined to be False AIKEN, SC- The earlier report of a domesticated mountain lion missing from Aquarium Pets on Richland Avenue has been determined to be fraudulent. Investigators have determined that the entire story has been fabricated. At this time there is no indication as to why the original complainant fabricated the story. The search for the missing mountain lion has now turned into a criminal investigation pertaining to the filing of a false police report. This information would have not have come to light without the assistance of the media and concerned citizens that followed the story on the news and social media. The Aiken Department of Public Safety is extremely grateful for the assistance of our news media partners and our citizens for helping to bring this new information to light.
